Calendar Sync

Subscribe to external calendars via iCal URLs; sync frequency and supported providers

You can bring external calendar events into MONOid by subscribing to iCal URLs. Events sync automatically about every hour and appear on your Calendar alongside your routine blocks and tasks.

Where to set it up

Go to Settings > Workspace > Calendars. There you can add, edit, enable/disable, and remove calendar subscriptions.

How it works

  • Add a subscription — Enter a name (e.g. “Work Calendar”), the iCal URL (see below), and optionally pick a color so you can tell this calendar’s events apart on the Calendar view.
  • Sync — MONOid fetches events from the iCal URL automatically about every hour. No manual refresh is required; if you need events sooner, wait for the next sync or check back shortly.
  • Per user — Subscriptions are per user. You can turn a subscription on or off and control whether it’s visible on your Calendar without deleting it.

After a sync, the last sync time (and any error message) is shown on the subscription so you can see if something failed (e.g. rate limit or invalid URL).

Finding your iCal URL

MONOid accepts standard iCal URLs (https://... or webcal://...). Many calendar providers expose a “private” or “secret” iCal address for this.

Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. Click the three dots next to the calendar you want → Settings and sharing.
  3. Scroll to Integrate calendar.
  4. Copy the Secret address in iCal format. It looks like https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/.../basic.ics.

Use this URL in MONOid as the iCal URL for that calendar.

Outlook / Microsoft 365

  1. Go to Outlook Calendar or your Microsoft 365 calendar.
  2. Open Settings (gear) → View all Outlook settingsCalendarShared calendars.
  3. Under Publish a calendar, select the calendar and choose Can view when I have time (or similar), then get the ICS link.

Use the ICS link as the iCal URL in MONOid.

Apple Calendar

  1. Open Calendar on Mac.
  2. Select the calendar in the sidebar → FileNew Calendar Subscription (or right‑click the calendar → Get Info).
  3. Alternatively, in Calendar > Preferences > Accounts, select the account and look for a published or shared calendar URL.

Use the subscription or feed URL (often webcal://...) in MONOid. If you only have webcal://, you can paste it as-is; MONOid will use it for syncing.

Tips

  • Private links — iCal URLs are often “secret” links. Don’t share them publicly; anyone with the link could see your events.
  • Errors — If a subscription shows a sync error, check that the URL is still valid, that the calendar is shared/published for integration, and that your network isn’t blocking the request. Disable and re-add the subscription if needed.
  • Visibility — Use the visibility toggle to hide a calendar’s events without removing the subscription.
